Christmas- The Zimbabwean Way

All Zimbabweans eagerly anticipate Christmas every year. It is a time for family, love and sharing.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Zimbabwe understand Christmas is a time to rededicate themselves to the principles taught by Jesus Christ. They understand Christmas is a season not an event, a time to celebrate the priceless gift of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His birth, which they commemorate during this season, is more than the symbol of a holiday. He is the Son of God, the Redeemer of all mankind, the King of Kings, the Prince of Peace, and their joy and salvation.

Christmas, the Zimbabwean Way means spending the holiday season with loving friends and family. Homes are adorned with christmas trees and love and kindness. People are too busy to hurt each other. Most people are in their best moods, everywhere - at market places, malls, public places, church, workplaces and indeed everywhere.

Zimbabweans  of the LDS faith understand that Christmas means much more than just the gifts from the store or the decorated trees. It is about the birth of the Savior.

This Christmas season, the LDS Church is celebrating with an initiative entitled, "He Is the Gift". For more information, please visit http://www.mormon.org/christmas

Christmas in Zimbabwe means reunion. It’s the time of year when everyone’s on the move. Transport is a nightmare, lifts are like gold and everyone is weighed down with bus bags and bulging luggage.
